Foundational Christian Beliefs

God

God is the divine spirit-being. He existed from the very beginning, in a space and time that humans can barely fathom because God created time. He is the Sculptor of the foundations of the world and universe.

God is all knowing and all powerful. Nothing is ever hidden from Him, even the thoughts of humans. He sees and hears all.

God says what He means and means what He says and follows through with action (or inaction) that aligns with His character. In this way, He is trustworthy and faithful.

Expressed in the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—God is three spirit-beings in one. These three are distinct from one another yet are one at the same time.

No thing and no one should be placed above or before the one true God. He alone reigns forever.

Humankind

Mankind was created by God and for God. When He created humans, God intentionally created male and female; and blessed them with free will. The first humans, Adam and Eve, lived in perfect harmony and obedience with God.

However, after choosing to take Satan’s deception as true, Adam and Eve became tainted by sin. Hence, the presence of sin in the world and in the hearts of mankind.

God’s will is for every person to willingly enter into a relationship with Him via the acceptance of Jesus Christ as his or her Savior and Lord. Jesus’ death on the cross eradicated the power of sin (not its presence) and there are many benefits to His death and resurrection, including: forgiveness of sins, reconciliation back to God (salvation), and the ongoing process of being shaped to reflect the holiness of God (sanctification).

There is a cost to following to Jesus. It requires living life against the cultural, and often times, erroneous gradients of the world. A life of ongoing intimacy, dependency, and obedience to Him. Because humans cannot do it on their own, God Himself gives the grace—divine empowerment—to live submitted to Him.

Scripture

Penned by humans at the guidance, inspiration, and instruction of God Himself, the Bible records and reflects the infallible words and ways of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

This sacred text captures the voices of the human authors and the voice of God; and it’s important to distinguish between the two. Yet, from Genesis to Revelation, God’s words are true. There is no lie or contradiction in Him.

Scripture is best approached with prayer and humility. In this fashion, it serves as a mirror for the human heart.

The Bible, along with the leadings from the Holy Spirit, is the standard for which life is lived by.

Church

The church is the collective body of believing men, women, and children.

As the ekklesia, the church is a delegation of people called to live out the principles of God’s Kingdom on earth in their homes, workplaces, and communities. God desires more and more people to join His ekklesia.

Led by Scripture abiding Spirit-filled men and women, local churches are called to function in an orderly manner with apostles, prophets, evangelists, elders, pastors, and teachers working as a team unified in their belief in Jesus Christ. Local churches serve as a place of refuge, resource, and restoration for the communities they are embedded in. As such, the church is filled with people who have practical skills sets and spiritual gifts that should be a blessing to those within and outside of the ekklesia.

Sin, including all forms of abuse (e.g., spiritual, physical, sexual, financial, emotional, and verbal), are not to be tolerated by the people of God. Rather, in an atmosphere of truth and love, sin must be exposed, victims helped and protected, and the offenders held accountable by the churches’ biblical standards, and when necessary, by the laws of the state.
